About
Viktor Protocol is a daily market conditions dashboard for SPY and QQQ. One rules-based model reads trend, market breadth, credit conditions and choppiness after every market close, and shows which stage of an 5-stage market cycle the market is in.
It's for investors who want a clear daily read on market conditions without building their own dashboards. It suits people who prefer plain language over jargon and like making their own decisions with better context.
3. Who is Viktor Protocol not for? / It isn't for anyone looking for trade calls, tips or price targets, anyone who needs intraday or real-time data, or anyone who wants someone to manage their money.
A free chart usually shows one indicator that you have to interpret yourself. Viktor Protocol combines four readings into one daily view, shows the current market cycle stage, and explains it in plain language.
No. Viktor Protocol describes market conditions. It doesn't send buy or sell alerts, trade calls or price targets, and it never places trades or accesses your accounts.
Dashboard
For SPY and QQQ, the dashboard shows the current market cycle stage, four readings (trend, market breadth, credit conditions and choppiness), a risk backdrop, a reading agreement level, and any active flags.
Each reading has a status. Clear means that part of the market looks healthy, Watch means it's showing some weakness, and Stress means it's clearly under pressure.
The risk backdrop is a simple tier (Low, Moderate, Elevated or High) that describes the overall market environment. It describes current conditions and is not a forecast.
Reading agreement shows how many of the readings point the same way: High, Moderate or Low. It is not a probability of any outcome.
Flags highlight two conditions that can appear at any stage of the cycle: credit stress in the bond market and choppy, range-bound price action.
Our How to Read guide explains every part of the dashboard in plain language, including each reading, status, stage and flag.
Market Cycle
It's a way of describing where the market sits in its cycle: 1 Strong, 2 Steady, 3 Weakening, 4 Breakdown, 5 Recovery
Conditions usually change in steps, so the market often moves through the stages in order. Markets don't always follow a neat path, though, and a stage can be brief or skipped.
No. The stage describes current conditions. It doesn't predict future prices or tell you what will happen next.
It varies widely. Some stages last only days, while others last months.
Model
The model reads the market in layers: the long-term trend first, then how many stocks are taking part, then the bond market, then whether price is trending or drifting sideways. Changes are checked against the weekly chart, so one noisy day doesn't flip the reading.
Market breadth measures how many stocks are taking part in a move. An index near its highs with fewer stocks joining in is a classic sign of a thinning market, which is why breadth is one of the model's core readings.
The bond market can show investor caution, for example when money moves from riskier bonds to safer ones. The model watches for this kind of stress as part of its SPY reading.
A choppy market moves back and forth without a clear direction. The choppiness reading shows whether the market is trending or range-bound.
Before major readings change, the model checks the daily picture against the weekly chart. This helps keep a single rough day from flipping the reading.
[The rules are fixed for at least 12 months at a time and are not adjusted after the fact.]
No. The specific rules and settings are proprietary. The How to Read guide explains what each reading measures in plain language.
SPY & QQQ
Viktor Protocol covers SPY, which tracks the S&P 500, and QQQ, which tracks the Nasdaq-100.
SPY and QQQ behave differently, so each one is read with its own calibrated rules.
No. The QQQ model is calibrated separately and doesn't use the credit layer, because tech-heavy swings trigger bond-market stress readings too often. The dashboard still shows credit conditions on QQQ for context.
The readings are built for SPY and QQQ. They describe the broad market and aren't designed for individual stocks.
